What Is a CNP?

(Certified Nutritional Practitioner)

From My Experience:

As a Certified Nutritional Practitioner (CNP), I completed one of Canada’s most comprehensive holistic nutrition programs through the Institute of Holistic Nutrition (IHN). This training combines rigorous science, applied nutrition, and holistic healing strategies.

What makes my perspective unique is that I have been living this lifestyle for many years. Before becoming a CNP, I co-owned a Wellness Clinic for 15 years and raised my children with a holistic approach to food, health, and lifestyle. That lived experience grounds the professional training I bring to my clients today.

Here’s what the designation means in practice:

Rigorous, evidence-based foundation: My studies included core science courses such as Anatomy & Physiology, Biological Chemistry, Body Metabolism, Pathology & Nutrition, and Nutrition Research the same scientific grounding you’d expect in early medical training.

Applied clinical nutrition: Courses like Nutritional Symptomatology I & II, Nutritional Pathology, and Lifespan Nutrition trained me to connect symptoms with underlying nutritional imbalances and create targeted, individualized strategies for healing.

Holistic, integrative breadth: I also studied Psychology of Disease, Herbal Medicine, Ayurveda, Fitness & Sports Nutrition, and Nutrition & the Environment—disciplines that highlight how emotional well-being, traditional healing systems, movement, and environment all play a role in health.

Accredited and professional: The IHN diploma and CNP designation are recognized by respected professional bodies, including the International Organization of Nutritional Consultants (IONC), the Canadian Association of Natural Nutritional Practitioners (CANNP), and the Association of Naturopaths of Québec (ANPQ). The program itself is overseen by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) and Education Quality Assurance (EQA).

Ongoing competence: As a licensed professional, I’m required to maintain my certification through continuing education—ensuring my recommendations are current, evidence-informed, and practical.

Direct care, no referral needed: Unlike some health professionals, you don’t need a referral to work with me. Nutritional support is available whenever you’re ready to take that step.

Conditions & Diagnoses

We work alongside your diagnosis, not in denial of it. Our job is to support your body’s healing systems, address the root contributors to your symptoms, and give you practical, personalized tools for feeling better day to day. You’re you’re a dynamic human being- not a diagnosis. And you deserve care that sees you and your full picture.

1What conditions do you work with?
We work with women navigating a wide range of hormonal, metabolic, and digestive concerns, including:
  • IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome): bloating, urgency, constipation/diarrhea, abdominal pain

  • Weight Management: stuck scale, body composition concerns, metabolic resistance
Each client’s plan is unique—and designed to reduce symptom burden, restore balance, and improve quality of life, using nutrition, lifestyle, and targeted support.
2Do you replace my doctor or specialist?
No. We collaborate with—not replace—your medical team. Our role is to fill the gap between “normal labs” and “feeling like yourself again,” helping you understand your body and optimize your daily care.
3What if I haven’t been diagnosed, but I feel awful?
That’s valid—and you’re not alone. Many of our clients come to us with a collection of symptoms that don’t fit neatly into a diagnosis. We work to identify patterns, support healing systems, and give you clarity—whether or not you have a formal label.

Programs & Process

The RISE Formula

The RISE Formula is a strategic, science-backed wellness approach built for women in midlife. Whether you choose Reset, Signature, or GLP-1 Signature, every program includes personalized nutrition, supplement guidance, mindset support, and powerful tools—all in one app.

1What’s the difference between the Reset and Signature programs?
Reset is our 3-month foundation program—perfect for starting strong. Signature and GLP-1 Signature include 1:1 coaching, deeper habit support, and check-ins. GLP-1 adds metabolic science and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) support.
2What if I’m not sure which program is right for me?
That’s what your Clarity Call is for. We’ll walk through your health history, goals, and concerns and match you to the right RISE path.
3Do you offer functional lab testing?
Yes, but it’s always optional. Clients receive access to wholesale pricing for labs like DUTCH, GI-MAP, and more. We only test if it adds real value to your care.
4What kind of support do I get between sessions?
You’ll have access to secure messaging via Practice Better (messages returned during business hours), plus scheduled protocol check-ins to keep you on track.

Is menopause just
about aging?

1Is menopause a sign of decline or a natural transition?

No. Menopause is not a decline or failure of the body and neither is perimenopause, which can begin for some women as early as their 30s. These phases represent a purposeful transition in hormone and brain chemistry as the body gradually shifts out of its reproductive years.

During perimenopause and menopause, the nervous system and endocrine system change how they communicate, adapt, and prioritize energy. When these shifts are supported appropriately, many women experience greater clarity, resilience, and strength rather than loss.

2Why do so many symptoms show up during perimenopause and menopause if this is a natural transition?

Although perimenopause and menopause are natural transitions, the hormonal and neurological shifts can feel challenging, especially in today’s high-stress, fast-paced world. During perimenopause (which can begin for some women in their 30s), fluctuating estrogen and progesterone levels begin to influence neurotransmitters, blood sugar regulation, sleep, mood, and stress response.

Symptoms are not a sign that something is “wrong,” but rather signals that the body is adapting and may need different support during this phase. When these underlying systems are supported, many women find their symptoms improve and their resilience increases.

3Can women actively thrive during perimenopause, menopause, and beyond?

Yes. With the right metabolic, nutritional, and lifestyle support, many women not only feel better during perimenopause and menopause they often feel more grounded, confident, and mentally clear than they did before.

These phases can represent a shift away from constant output and caretaking toward greater self-direction, perspective, and leadership. By supporting foundational systems such as blood sugar balance, nervous system regulation, sleep, and digestion, the body is better able to adapt to hormonal and neurological changes and move into this next phase with strength and resilience.

GLP-1 Support with Compassion & Clarity

Weight isn’t just willpower. Obesity is a disease—and you deserve care that treats it that way.

At Your Functional Nutritionist, we meet you where you are. If you’re using GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro, you’re not “cheating”—you’re treating. These medications are powerful tools for managing obesity, metabolic dysfunction, insulin resistance, and other health concerns.

But medication is only one piece of the puzzle.

Why We Support Clients on GLP-1s:
  • Because obesity is a complex, chronic disease—not a character flaw.
  • Because rapid weight loss can come with challenges like muscle loss, blood sugar swings, and digestive shifts.
  • Because you deserve coaching, nutrition support, and a plan that honors your changing body and metabolism.
  • Because behavior change, habit-building, and blood sugar balance matter more now than ever.

Working With Me on GLP-1s Includes...

Blood sugar-friendly meal planning to reduce crashes, cravings, and fatigue

Coaching on habit formation, mindset, and sustainable lifestyle change

Muscle-preserving nutrition strategies to support your strength and metabolism

Personalized supplementation to fill gaps and prevent common side effects

A safe, shame-free space to navigate this chapter with support

GLP-1s can help open a door—but they aren’t a finish line. You still need a strategy. You still need support. That’s where I come in.
